Our story did not begin in a boardroom. It began with a family's leap of faith across the Pacific.
In 2002, our founders left Taiwan for the pristine shores of New Zealand. The father, a seasoned tour guide, continued to share the world's wonders with travelers, while the mother brought her expertise as a meticulous tour consultant from Taiwan. Together, they understood the delicate art of hospitality—the balance of awe-inspiring landscapes and the comfort of feeling completely understood.
Years later, their daughter, having grown up between these two rich cultures, met a young New Zealander. Together, they traveled across Asia and then deeply explored Aotearoa (New Zealand). Inspired by the raw, untamed beauty of his homeland and her deep understanding of Taiwanese expectations, they realized something was missing in the luxury travel market.
They teamed up with her deeply experienced father to create Lightwell Journeys. The mission was simple: to curate the absolute best experience for Taiwanese travelers wanting to truly immerse themselves in New Zealand, without losing the warmth and familiarity of home.
